The Costa Brava is divided into three coastal regions: Alt Empordà, Baix Empordà and La Selva, although the regions of Gironès and Pla de L’Estany, with Banyoles and its famous lake, could also be considered to be part of it. It is made up of more than 250 kilometres of beaches, nooks and coves where sand is interspersed with rocks, giving rise to wide beaches and hidden coves that are not easily accessible. It is not just a mere coastline, thanks to its extraordinary landscapes where modernity blends with nature.
A world-famous tourist destination, it is the perfect place to enjoy nature, as well as the wide range of leisure and entertainment options available. Perhaps this is why it has become one of the favourite places of travellers from all over the world—particularly popular among the French, Germans, Italians, British—thereby creating a truly cosmopolitan atmosphere. The variety of hotels on the Costa Brava is more than enough to meet all kinds of needs. And it’s not just this, but also the wide range of choices which makes it the ideal place to spend a great holiday.
What to see on the Costa Brava
Although the Augusta Barcelona Vallès is situated in the Vallès Oriental region, it is a good alternative to the hotels of the Costa Brava. Firstly, because it is a quiet accommodation, far from the touristic agglomerations that you can find on the waterfront. And secondly, thanks to the proximity: a lot of Costa Brava beaches are situated at less than an hour by car from our hotel thanks to the AP-7 motorway, which represents an ideal travel time for one day trips with a personally-owned or rented vehicle.
Then, we show a list of the best Costa Brava beaches for those who want to stay in the Augusta Barcelona Vallès Hotel:
- Blanes: 59 km, 45 minutes. Beautiful and lively coastal city where starts the Costa Brava. It has interesting bays and beaches, the largest of them of 2,5 km in length (S’Abanell). There, the Portal de la Costa Brava, which is a natural arch situated in the Sa Palomera islet, is very famous. In addition, it has a great aquatic park: Marineland.
- Lloret del Mar: 65 km, 46 minutes. Situated near Blanes, this is one of the Costa Brava most popular places. It has excellent fine sand beaches and bays, among which highlights Playa Grande, of 1,5 km in length. The charming castle next to the sea is precious.
- Tossa de Mar: 76 km, 54 minutes. A coastal city very picturesque, with a wonderful walled enclosure and a beautiful lighthouse at the top. Despite it is not so big as the other two anterior cities, it has 15 sea bath areas between beaches and bays.
- Other beaches and bays: at less than an hour by car, you will find other bath areas on the Costa Brava, hard to access but delightful bays. For instance: Cala Figuera or Cala Canyelles.
Aside from numerous coastal regions, the Costa Brava also offers a lot in the way of education and culture. With regard to cultural activities available on the Costa Brava, it is possible to visit Iberian, Greek and Roman remains or organise tours to go and see the mediaeval remains of Sant Pere de Rodes or the towns of Pals and Peratallada. The city of Figueres is home to one of the most-visited museums in Europe—the Dalí Theatre-Museum, where Salvador Dalí’s genius is shown at its best. This museum, together with the Portlligat House-Museum in Cadaqués and the Gala Dalí Castle in Púbol, makes up the so-called Dalí Triangle—a not-to-be-missed visit for any arts and culture lover.
Another popular destination is the Cap de Creus Natural Park, a great place to walk and enjoy views, flora and fauna that only nature can offer. And for those who love diving, there’s nothing better than going to the Medes Islands, where you can find a true underwater paradise. Now, music lovers shouldn’t pass up the chance to go to the music festivals held at Torroella de Montgrí and Peralada.
In terms of gastronomy, the Costa Brava boasts world-class cuisine, as Ferran Adrià's great fame and his highly original creations at El Bulli marked a turning point in the area's cuisine, undeniably leaving their mark on many restaurants.
For all these reasons, the Costa Brava is the ideal tourist destination, as it has something to offer to everybody. So, if you're looking for a great option among the hotels on the Costa Brava, don’t think twice and book your stay at the Augusta Barcelona Vallès for that holiday experience that you’ve been waiting for!
Where to stay on the Costa Brava
Blanes, Cadaqués, Figueres and Lloret de Mar are just some of the major destinations on the Costa Brava. Thanks to the wide variety of hotels on the Costa Brava, you won’t have any problem at all finding one that best suits your needs. But the downside to staying in areas closer to the coast among the hotels on the Costa Brava is that they tend to be very touristy, which means that the large number of people about can be a problem for those who prefer a quieter place to get away from it all. What’s more, generally speaking, these hotels tend to be much more expensive due to the simple fact that they are found close to the beach.
And not only that, but the location of this type of hotels becomes a constraint for those who wish to visit all the famous landmarks on the Costa Brava. Not to mention that if you’re travelling by car—whether in your own car or a rental—, looking for parking can be an absolute nightmare that will completely put you off the idea of visiting other places just so you don’t have to move the car from its spot.See more View less

In contrast, it is only 25 minutes away from Barcelona, which serves as the perfect excuse to go and visit the city. What’s more, there's a shopping centre just 10 minutes away on foot.See more View less
